Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When I say the Name of the One with love, the emptiness I carried — the sense of never having enough — quietly clears.
The fear of beginnings and endings melts through the Guru's word. Resting my trust in the One who never shifts, I settle into peace.
When we remember the One, fear and emptiness start to melt away.
The verse says: har har naam bhaji-o — I said the Name of the One with love — and all my lack and troubles went away. The fear of birth and death was wiped out through gur sabdee, the Guru's word.
The key word is asthir. It means steady, the thing that never moves. Har asthir sayv sukh samghaa: serving the Unmoving One, I settled into peace. Think of standing on a boat in rough water. If you hold the railing that is bolted down, you stay steady while everything rocks. Everything in life shifts and changes. Peace comes from leaning on the One who never shifts.
What is something steady you can lean on when everything feels uncertain?
