ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soohee mehlaa 5.
Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
say sanjog karahu mayray pi-aaray.
May there be such an auspicious time, O my Beloved,
ਜਿਤੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jit rasnaa har naam uchaaray. ||1||
when, with my tongue, I may chant the Lord's Name||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Let there be moments — the more the better — that draw me close to what is good, dear One.

Moments when my own voice gets to say the Name of the One out loud.

It is worth wishing for more moments that pull you toward the good.
The deeper layer

say sanjog karahu mayray pi-aaray — arrange such sanjog (auspicious meetings/moments), O beloved. jit rasnaa har naam uchaaray — when the rasna (tongue) speaks the Name. A prayer for opportunity, not achievement.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of moment do you wish you had more of in your life?
