Where The Song Is Sung, Joy Lives

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soohee mehlaa 5.
Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਹਾ ॥
gun gopaal parabh kay nit gaahaa.
Where the Glorious Praises of God, the Lord of the world are continually sung,
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੁਖ ਤਾਹਾ ॥੧॥
anad binod mangal sukh taahaa. ||1||
there is bliss, joy, happiness and peace. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In any place where people gladly sing the praises of the One, something shifts in the air.

That place fills up with bliss, delight, celebration, and a deep, easy peace.

Where good things are celebrated together, joy tends to gather.
The deeper layer

gun gopaal parabh kay nit gaahaa — daily singing the gun (praises) of gopaal (world-cherisher). anad binod mangal sukh — bliss, delight, mangal (celebration), peace. The atmosphere praise creates.

A Question to Sit With

What is a place that feels joyful the moment you walk into it?
