In plain words

Whoever lets the loud "me" go quiet, while fully alive, comes to understand the One.

That person receives the One as a gift of grace.

When the grabbing self goes quiet, understanding arrives on its own.
The deeper layer

This verse says that when the loud "me" inside goes quiet, we begin to understand the One.

Jeevat marai bujhai prabh so-ay: one who "dies while alive" understands God. This is not about dying at all. It means letting the ego go still while you are fully alive and living your life. The ego is the part of us that always needs to win, to be first, to be right. When it quiets down, you bujhai, understand.

Think of a pond on a windy day. You can't see the bottom. When the wind stops, the water turns clear.

Tis jan karam paraapat ho-ay: that person receives it by karam. The word can mean grace, and it can mean the fruit of one's past deeds. Either way, this understanding is received, not grabbed.

A Question to Sit With

When are you most able to really understand something — when you are loud, or when you are still?
