Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਬਹਤੀ ਜਾਤ ਕਦੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਧਾਰਤ ॥
bahtee jaat kaday darisat na Dhaarat.
Your life is slipping away, but you never even notice.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹ ਬੰਧਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਪਾਰਚ ॥੧॥

You are constantly entangled in false attachments and conflicts. ||1||

In plain words

The days keep flowing past, quietly, and it is easy not to notice them going.

It is worth pausing to see when we get tangled up in things that do not really last.

Time slips by quietly, so it is worth pausing to notice it.
The deeper layer

This one means life keeps flowing by, and it is easy not to notice.

bahtee jaat kaday darisat na Dhaarat — it keeps flowing away, but you never look. Life is like a river. The water moves quietly, all the time.

mithi-aa moh banDheh nit paarach — every day we get tied up in mithi-aa moh. That means holding on to things that do not last. We get caught in quarrels too.

Think of a long summer holiday. At first it feels endless. Then suddenly school starts on Monday. This is a gentle wake-up, not a scare. It invites us to notice.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing you do not want to look up one day and find you missed?
