In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Deep inside me, a true love has taken root for the One I hold dear — it's not on the surface, it's down at the core.

And when the teaching stands before me, my whole self lights up, body and mind, glad right through.

The truest love is planted deep, not worn on the surface.
The deeper layer

andar sachaa nayhu laa-i-aa preetam aapnai — a true love (nehu) is planted deep within for the Beloved; tan man ho-ay nihaal jaa gur daykhaa saamhnay — body and mind grow blissful (nihaal) when the teaching stands before one. The opening ||1|| verse of a shabad in praise of the teaching.

A Question to Sit With

What's something you love so deeply it's part of who you are?
