Lucky and glad is the soul that truly recognizes the One.
It lets its life move with the flow of existence, and sets down its need to feel bigger than everyone else.
Colored through with the love of the Beloved, it lives in quiet delight.
This verse is about the happy soul that truly knows the One.
Gurbani often pictures the soul as a bride waiting for her Beloved, the One she loves most. It is a tender way of saying the heart is turned toward the Creator. Dhan sohaagan jo prabhoo pachhaanai: blessed is the bride who recognizes the One.
This bride does two things. Maanai hukam tajai abhimaanai: she accepts the Hukam, the way the One makes life flow. And she lets go of abhimaan, the need to feel more important than everyone. These are really one single move.
Think of floating in a river. When you stop fighting the current and stop trying to look strong, the river carries you easily. That is when joy comes, all by itself.
What is one thing you could stop trying to control this week?
