Listen, O my companions - these are the signs on the Path to meet God.

Dedicate your mind and body to Him; stop living to please others. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Listen, friends — here is the sign that you are drawing near to the One:

you give your mind and your heart fully.

You stop arranging your whole life around what other people will think.

Nearness shows up as giving your heart and dropping the fear of what others think.
The deeper layer

Here is how you can tell you are getting closer to the One.

This is the "Rahao" line, the pause line. It is the center of the whole shabad (hymn). Man tan arap taj laaj lokaanee: give your mind and body to the One, and drop laaj lokaanee, the worry about what people will think.

Picture a kid who stops dressing to look cool and starts wearing what they truly love. They didn't just get a new feeling. They changed what they live for.

That is the sign of nearness. It is not a special feeling that comes and goes. It is a change in what your life is for.

A Question to Sit With

Whose opinion do you worry about most — and how much should it really steer you?
