Every Day Is a Traveler Passing Through

soohee.
Soohee:
jo din aavahi so din jaahee.
That day which comes, that day shall go.
karnaa kooch rahan thir naahee.
You must march on; nothing remains stable.
sang chalat hai ham bhee chalnaa.
Our companions are leaving, and we must leave as well.
door gavan sir oopar marnaa. ||1||
We must go far away. Death is hovering over our heads. ||1||

In plain words

Each day arrives like a friendly traveler and, by evening, moves along again. Nothing here stays fixed; everything is gently on its way somewhere.

That is not sad — it means we are all on a journey together, and every single day is a gift to be treasured while it is here.

Every day is a traveler passing through — which is exactly why it's precious.
The deeper layer

jo din aavahi so din jaahee — the day that comes also goes. karnaa kooch rahan thir naahee — we must move on; nothing is permanent. sang chalat hai ham bhee chalnaa — our companions move on, and so do we. The literal death-hovers-overhead detail is set aside; the passage of days is rendered as a shared journey that makes each day precious (the Alaahnian: the world is a visit).

A Question to Sit With

What is one gift in today you don't want to let pass by unnoticed?
