Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Every single person, deep down, is longing to see the One — that longing is in all of us, whether we can name it or not.
But it can be easy to get pulled away by shiny, tempting things and lose the thread of what we were really reaching for.
This pauri merges the rahaao with the first verse. darsan kau lochai sabh ko-ee — everyone longs for the sight; poorai bhaag paraapat — it comes when the whole heart is ready. Then mahaa mohnee — the great enchantress, Maya, the pull of appearances, draws attention away. The universal longing is foregrounded; the 'path of sin' is softened to being pulled off the thread.
What do you think most people are really looking for underneath everything?
