If you long for your Beloved, young heart, then set your attention on the Teacher's feet. You will be counted among the loved for good — for this Beloved never dies and never leaves.
The Beloved never dies and never leaves; carried by the Teacher's easy grace, the heart becomes dear to the One.
Through truth and gentle self-control, it stays clean and clear, adorned by the Teacher's Word. My One is true, forever true, who brought even His own self into being. A heart set on the Teacher's feet delights in its Beloved always.
This one offers a deep comfort: there is a love that never dies and never leaves.
Har jee-o marai na jaa-ay means "the Dear One does not die and does not go away." People move away, things break, pets grow old. This love cannot be lost like that.
The verse speaks to a young heart. Jay lorheh var means "if you long for the Beloved." The answer is simple: gur charnee chit laa-ay, set your attention on the Guru's feet. Sitting at a teacher's feet is an old picture of humble learning, like a student at the front of the class, ready to listen.
Sach sanjam means truth with gentle sanjam, self-control. These keep the heart nirmal, clear and clean.
Think of a lighthouse. Waves come and go, but the light stays steady. The Beloved's steadiness stands against everything that fades.
What is something or someone whose steadiness you can always count on?
