Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Without the true Teacher the world wanders, lost in doubt, and misses the One's mansion. Some, facing the Teacher, are joined to the One, and their aches are carried away.
Their aches are lifted when it pleases the One, and, colored in His love, they sing His praises for good.
Those who love the One stay pure and humble, respected through every age. They live their devotion truly and are known at the One's door, where the True One is their very home. True is their song of joy and true is their word; through the Word comes peace.
har kay bhagat sadaa jan nirmal jug jug sad hee jaatay — the devoted stay pure and are jaatay, recognized/respected, through every age. Honor here is quiet and lasting, rooted in nirmal, spotless living, not in status. ghar dar sachaa so-ee — the True One is their hearth and home: their belonging is to the One, so the world's rankings cannot unsettle it. The refrain names doubt, bharam, as what leaves the world wandering — and the Teacher as the way out.
Who is someone quietly good that you respect more the longer you know them?
