The right moment has come, and my heart brims over. The One I longed for is arriving in the home of my heart.
The learned ones have come to sit and read the calendar of stars.
When I hear that my Friend is coming, joy rings inside me like good news. Everything wise in me agrees: let this meeting be now.
The One I find is beyond all reach and all guessing, and forever new. The One is my truest friend from my very first days.
In kindness the One draws me close, and we are never apart again.
The One is not a stranger. The One is our oldest friend.
This verse keeps the wedding picture. The family calls in pandits, learned priests, to read the almanac and pick a lucky hour. An almanac is a calendar of stars and dates. Wise people sit together and agree: let the wedding happen now. Here that picture points inward. The right moment is really the heart being ready, with every part of us agreeing.
Then the joy: sad navtan baal sakhaa-ee — forever new, a friend from earliest childhood. Navtan means fresh and new. Baal sakhaa-ee means childhood friend. Think of a kindergarten friend you see again years later. Right away it feels like no time has passed. The One is that friend, there before we can remember. The verse ends: vichhurh kaday na jaa-ee — we will never be apart again.
Who has been your friend so long they feel like they were always there?
