In plain words

The bright passing color is like a dream you have at night — gone the moment you wake. It is like a necklace with no string: the beads scatter the instant you lift it.

The lasting color comes from holding the One in your heart. And when love like that fills you, old mistakes lose their grip and simply fall away, like ash blown off in the wind.

Love doesn't punish old mistakes — it dissolves their grip.
The deeper layer

A First Mehl shalok — Guru Nanak's voice within Amar Das's Vaar. supnai nisee = a night-dream; bin taagay gal haar = a necklace without a thread, vivid images of the ungrounded and false. prem mahaa rasee sabh buri-aa-ee-aa chhaar = in the supreme essence of love, all wrongs become ash — grace dissolves, it does not punish.
