Reunited After a Long Time Apart

pa-orhee.
Pauree:
je parabh saalaahay aapnaa so sobhaa paa-ay.
One who praises his God, receives honor.
ha-umai vichahu door kar sach man vasaa-ay.
He drives out egotism from within himself, and enshrines the True Name within his mind.
sach banee gun uchrai sachaa sukh paa-ay.
Through the True Word of the Guru's Bani, he chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and finds true peace.
mayl bha-i-aa chiree vichhunni-aa gur purakh milaa-ay.
He is united with the Lord, after being separated for so long; the Guru, the Primal Being, unites him with the Lord.
man mailaa iv suDh hai har naam Dhi-aa-ay. ||17||
In this way, his filthy mind is cleansed and purified, and he meditates on the Name of the Lord. ||17||

In plain words

A heart that praises the One quietly grows in honor. It sets down the loud me and keeps the True Name close inside.

Singing through the teaching, it finds a deep, real peace. It is like being reunited with someone you missed for a very long time — the teaching brings you back together. And a heart that felt clouded comes clean again, just by holding the Name.

Coming back to the One feels like reuniting with someone you've long missed.
The deeper layer

mayl bha-i-aa chiree vichhunni-aa = union after a long separation, a tender image for the soul returning to its Source. man mailaa iv sudh hai har naam dhi-aa-ay = the clouded mind cleared through remembrance. sobhaa = honor that comes from praising, not from seeking honor directly.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to reconnect with someone after a long time apart?
