Sikhism·Raag Soohee·Shabad 33
Verse 4 of 5

Close to Every One of Us

ਕੋਟਿ ਦਾਸ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
kot daas jaa kai darbaaray.
There are millions of servants in Your Court - Your Royal Darbaar.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੩॥
nimakh nimakh vasai tinH naalay. ||3||
Each and every instant, You dwell with them. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Countless people belong to Your great house.

And with every single one of them, at every moment, You are right there.

The One is fully near to every single person at once.
The deeper layer

kot daas jaa kai darbaaray — millions in the divine court, yet nimakh nimakh vasai tinH naalay — the One is with each, instant by instant. The image dissolves any worry about being one small person among billions: nearness is not divided among us, it is whole for each.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to know you are never actually alone?
