Sikhism·Raag Soohee·Shabad 46
Verse 3 of 5

Kept Safe In Your Shelter

ਅਪਣੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥
apnee saran raakh parabh daatay.
Please keep me under Your Protection, O God, O Great Giver.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੨॥
gur parsaad kinai virlai jaatay. ||2||
By Guru's Grace, a few people understand this. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Keep me under Your care, the way a shelter keeps you dry in a storm.

Not everyone notices this shelter is even here — but those who do feel wonderfully held.

The shelter is always there; noticing it is the gift.
The deeper layer

apnee saran raakh parabh daatay — keep me in Your saran (sanctuary). gur parsaad kinai virlai jaatay — virlai (rare ones) understand it, by grace. The shelter is always offered; awareness of it is the gift.

A Question to Sit With

Where or with whom do you feel most safe and sheltered?
