ਭਣਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹੁ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
bhanat naanak saho hai bhee hosee.
Prays Nanak, the Lord is, and shall always be.

jai bhaavai pi-aaraa tai raavaysee. ||8||1||
She alone is ravished and enjoyed, with whom the Beloved Lord is pleased. ||8||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says: the One is here now and will always be here. That never changes.

The one the Beloved is glad of is the one the Beloved holds close.

The One is here now and always will be — closeness is a gift, welcomed not won.
The deeper layer

Guru Nanak ends with comfort: the One is here, always, and closeness comes as a gift.

Bhanat naanak saho hai bhee hosee means "Nanak says, the Master is, and always will be." The One doesn't come and go with our moods.

Jai bhaavai pi-aaraa tai raavaysee means the Beloved holds close whoever the Beloved is glad of. Think of a birthday present. You don't earn it with chores; someone who loves you just gives it. The shabad began with "I have no good qualities." It ends here, calm and safe, in grace.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing in your life that stays steady even when your mood changes?
