In plain words

When I turn toward the teaching, I am not standing alone — there is a real protecting presence holding me.

And I do not have to force my way close by cleverness. Living the sacred word, and moving with the flow of existence, gently brings me home.

Turning toward the teaching, I am held — not standing alone.
The deeper layer

This one means the One protects those who turn toward the teaching.

The first line calls the One the rakhanhaar, the protector, of the gurmukh. A gurmukh is someone whose face is turned toward the Guru's teaching.

mayleh tujheh rajaa-ay sabad kamaa-ee-ai — by Your rajaa, Your will, You bring close those who live the sabad. The sabad is the sacred Word.

So two things meet. Protection and closeness are gifts. Our part is to live the Word, day by day. Think of a swimmer in a river. She moves with the current, and it carries her home.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt protected or held, even without seeing how?
