ay man jaisaa sayveh taisaa hoveh tayhay karam kamaa-ay.
O mind, as you serve, so do you become, and so are the deeds that you do.
Whatever you yourself plant, that is what you shall have to eat; nothing else can be said about this. ||7||

O my mind — whatever I give my attention and energy to, I slowly become. My days shape me the way water shapes a stone.
Whatever seeds I plant are the ones I'll eat from later. That's just how it works, plainly and fairly. So I try to plant well.
You slowly become whatever you give your attention to.
ay man jaisaa sayveh taisaa hoveh — you become whatever you serve; aap beej aapay hee khaavnaa — you eat what you yourself plant. A clear statement of karma as natural law, plainly and evenly stated: cause and effect, not reward and punishment.
A Question to Sit With
What are you "planting" with how you spend your days?
