In plain words

Drink in the sweet nectar and the deepest peace is yours, and you come to rest in your own true home inside.

Sing of the One who dissolves the fear of birth and death, and that old fear simply loses its grip on you.

Drink the sweet nectar, come home to your own true self, and the old fear loses its grip.
The deeper layer

This one says: come home to your true self, and old fear loosens. Peevhu api-o param sukh paa-ee-ai — drink the nectar and find the highest peace. Api-o is amrit, a sweet, life-giving drink. Nij ghar vaasaa means living in your own true home, the deepest part of you. It is like coming home after a long day and dropping your bag at the door.

Then the verse sings of the One as bhav bhanjan, the breaker of fear. The fear it means is the fear of birth and death, going round and round. The verse promises that this round comes to an end. And the very singing of the One's praise undoes that dread. The shabad keeps settling deeper and deeper into peace.

A Question to Sit With

Where inside yourself do you feel most at home and at peace?
