Raag Sorath
The Commentary
Sorath opens with two of Guru Nanak's favorite everyday images stitched together. Pauri 0 is the famous farming allegory: mind as farmer, body as field, the Name as seed, love as the thing that makes it sprout. The Rahao (Pauri 1) turns to the merchant: the world's glitter does not travel with you, so trade instead in what keeps its worth. Pauri 2 carries the merchant on his journey — truth as his goods, good deeds as his supplies, arriving in "the land of the Formless." Pauri 3 lands the whole thing on grace: point your attention at the One, turn from harm, and the Glance of Grace makes your life glow four times brighter.
