The Power Holding Worlds Is Caring for You Now

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
sorath mehlaa 5.
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:

paratipaalai nit saar samaalai ik gun nahee moorakh jaataa ray. ||1||
He ever cherishes and cares for all beings, but the fool does not appreciate any of His virtues. ||1||

In plain words

The One is the keeper of countless worlds, the giver to every living being.

It cares for all of us tenderly, every moment — and yet it's easy to miss even one of its kindnesses.

The same power that holds countless worlds is quietly caring for you every moment.
The deeper layer

The One who runs millions of worlds is also caring for you, right now.

Guru Arjan starts huge. Kot barahmand ko thaakur — the Master of millions of universes. Barahmand means a whole universe. Picture all the stars you can see, and then millions more skies like that.

Then he comes close. Pratipaalai nit saar samaalai — every day the One looks after and cares for each being. Think of a parent who runs a busy office all day, yet still remembers to pack your favorite snack.

The verse says the moorakh, the foolish one, does not notice even one of these kindnesses. We all do this sometimes. We forget to see the everyday gifts. The vast One and the tender One are the same One.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small everyday kindness you often forget to notice?
