Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

All day and all night I keep my Beloved in mind.

The One reached out a hand and kept me safe, and I taste a sweetness deeper than anything.

Help is a hand reaching for yours.
The deeper layer

This one says: the One reached out a hand and held me.

Simra-o apunaa saa-ee: I remember my Master. Dinas rain sad Dhi-aa-ee: day and night, I keep the One in mind.

Then comes the heart of it: haath day-ay jin raakhay. The One gave me a hand and kept me safe. Think of crossing a busy street as a little kid. A grown-up's hand reaches down, and you hold on tight.

Har naam mahaa ras chaakhay: I taste the Name, the sweetest flavor there is.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone reached out a hand right when you needed it?
