O my mind, keep the Teacher, the Lord of the world, always in your thoughts.
Every heaviness lifts from you, and your heart's true wishes are met.
The One made every living being. The One is high, beyond reach, without end.
In good company Nanak holds the Name in mind, and his face shines bright before the One.
This one says keeping the One in mind, in good company, lifts every heaviness.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad: mayray man gur govind sad dhi-aa-ee-ai, "O my mind, always remember the Guru, the Lord of the world."
Sagal kalays miteh: all troubles leave. Kalays means distress, the heavy weight inside. Man chindi-aa fal: you receive the fruit your heart wishes for.
Then comes saadhsang, the company of good people. Good company is where remembering the One comes easily. Practice is easier with your whole team around you.
And the end: mukh oojal, a bright, glowing face. It is the look of someone whose heart is clear and light.
Who is the good company that brings out the best and lightest in you?
