In plain words

Dear Beloved, let me praise You for as long as there is breath in me.

If I lost You even for a blink, that blink would feel as long as fifty years.

I used to feel muddled and unsure — but now, through the words of the teaching, my mind has lit up.

When you truly love something, a moment without it feels like fifty years.
The deeper layer

A tender opening full of longing. Jichar ghat antar hai saasaa — "as long as there is breath within" — praise for every breath of a life. The beautiful measure of love: ik pal khin visrahi... jaana-o baras pachaasaa — "if I forget You for an instant, it feels like fifty years." That is how you know something is loved: its absence stretches time. The literal's moorh mugadh ("fool and idiot") is softened to gentle self-address ("muddled and unsure"), which then gives way to light — gur kai sabad pargaasaa, the mind lit by the teaching. Longing resolving into clarity.

A Question to Sit With

What or whom do you miss so much that even a short time apart feels long?
