Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Children, family, the people in our home, all the things we gather — we love them, and they are woven into our days.
Yet none of that can travel the whole way with us; some of this closeness is only for a season.
A tender memento mori handled gently for children. The verse lists the dearest ties — putar kaltar... banitaa — and reminds that they cannot cross the final threshold with us. The harsh phrase sabh mithi-aa asnayhee (their love is 'false') is softened to 'only for a season': not that love is worthless, but that it belongs to time. This is the Naam lens — what you carry forward is the Divine held in awareness, not what you accumulate.
What is something about the people you love that you'll always carry, even when you're apart?
