Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I bow to the perfect teaching, and the One sets all my tasks right.
Kindness reached me, and my honor was kept whole and complete.
Bowing is not losing -- it can be the moment you let help in.
This one says: I bow to the Teacher, and the One sets everything right.
Gur pooraa namaskaaray — I bow to the perfect Guru, the Teacher. Parabh sabhay kaaj savaaray — the One arranges all my tasks. And parabh pooran paij savaaree: my honor is kept whole.
Bowing isn't weakness. It's trust. Think of letting your dad help carry the heavy grocery bags. You're not giving up. You're letting someone bigger help with the load.
A Question to Sit With
What is something you are trying to carry alone that you could ask for help with?
