Imagine your whole life is a farm. Your mind is the farmer, the one who decides what to grow. Your good deeds are the farming itself. Being honest and humble waters the field like rain, and your own body is the field where everything grows.
Now plant the seed: the Name, the practice of keeping the One in mind. Let being content — happy with what you have — smooth the soil. Wear your ordinary, humble self like a fence that keeps the good things safe.
When you do everything with love, the seed sprouts. And one day you look up and see your whole life blossoming — a home full of good things.
This one says a good life grows like a crop, and you are the farmer.
Guru Nanak paints one big farm picture, and every part stands for something. Man, your mind, is the farmer. Karnee, your good deeds, is the farming. Saram, honest effort and modesty, is the water. Tan, your body, is the field. The naam is the seed. The Name means keeping the One in mind. Santokh, being happy with what you have, is the tool that smooths the soil. And gareebee vays, plain and humble clothes, is the fence that keeps the crop safe.
Think of a school garden. Nobody grows tomatoes by making a big speech about them. You water, you pull weeds, and you show up every day. A good life works the same way. It does not come from big shows or from status. It grows from ordinary, honest work done with the One in mind.
Look closely at one phrase: bhaa-o karam kar jammsee, "do deeds of love, and the seed will sprout." Effort alone is not enough. Love is what makes the seed come up. This is the keynote of Raag Sorath: a content, sincere heart that grows into a full and happy home.
If your life were a farm, what seed would you most want to plant this week?
