In plain words

Please hear my prayer — every living being belongs to You and was made by You.

You are the One who keeps Your promise, standing behind Your own Name.

You can bring your honest prayer to the One who made you.
The deeper layer

This one is a simple prayer: please hear me.

Sunhu binantee thaakur mayray: hear my prayer, my Master. Thaakur means Master, the One who looks after everything. Jee-a jant tayray Dhaaray: every living being is held up by You, the way a tree holds up every leaf.

Then comes the ask: raakh paij naam apunay kee. Keep the honor of Your own Name. Think of a promise with your name signed on it. Whoever signs it stands behind it. The One stands behind the Name. Karan karaavanhaaray means the One who causes all things and makes them happen.

A Question to Sit With

If you could say one honest prayer out loud, what would it be?
