Look around the whole wide world, and you will notice something quietly true: most people are busy chasing their own comforts and their own good times.
When easy days come, everyone is near. But when a hard day arrives, that crowd can melt away, and you find you are standing alone.
There is one Friend, though, who never leaves. Keep that Friend close in your heart.
ih jag meet na daykhio ko-ee — in this world no perfect friend is found among people whose love is tied to pleasure; dukh mai sang na ho-ee — in sorrow they are not beside you. This is the Rahau, the anchor of the whole shabad: human affection is real but conditional, and the One is the friend who stays through the hard hours. The pointing is not bitter about people; it points past their limits to the one love that does not depend on fair weather.
Who or what do you turn to when a day gets hard?
