In plain words

Kindness reached me, and the deep wish of my heart was filled.

Washed clean inside, I came home and found gladness, joy, and peace waiting.

A longing that is truly met turns into a quiet, settled joy.
The deeper layer

The Guru was kind, the deep wish of the heart was filled, and coming home felt like joy.

Gur poorai kirpaa dhaaree — the perfect Guru showed kindness. Prabh pooree loch hamaaree — God filled my longing. A loch is a deep wish, the kind you carry quietly for a long time.

Kar isnaan garihi aa-ay — after bathing, I came home. The bath here is also a washing inside, a fresh, clean start. This picture of getting clean and then coming home shows up again and again in these shabads.

Think of coming home after a long, tiring trip. You wash up, sit down, and the whole house feels warm. Anad mangal sukh paa-ay — I found joy, happiness and peace.

A Question to Sit With

What is a longing of yours -- and what would it feel like for it to be gently answered?
