In plain words

Sometimes people work hard at being clever and dishonest. They gather up things that were never really theirs.

Then they carry it all home and pour it out on the people they love.

Things gathered dishonestly, even for people we love, never really settle.
The deeper layer

This one says that money won by tricking people never truly belongs to you.

Baho parpanch kar par Dhan li-aavai — with lots of trickery, a person brings home par Dhan, other people's wealth. Then he spends it on sut daaraa, his children and wife. Kabir sees how easily we excuse a wrong by saying, "I did it for my family."

Loving your family is good. The problem is the tricking. Think of a student who copies a friend's homework to make his parents proud. The pride rests on something that isn't his. Wealth gathered that way never settles or stays.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever seen someone excuse doing something wrong by saying it was 'for family'?
