Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
so-ee karaa-ay jo tuDh bhaavai.
You make me do what pleases You.
ਮੋਹਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

I have no cleverness at all.

I am just a child - I seek Your Protection.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
parabh aapay paij rakhaa-ee. ||1||
God Himself preserves my honor. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I do not need to be clever or to have all the answers; I am simply a child in Your care.

I let what needs to happen unfold, and I trust that my honor is safe in Your hands.

You do not have to be clever to be safe; being a trusting child is its own strength.
The deeper layer

mohi siaanap kachhoo na aavai — no cleverness of my own; ham baarik tau sarnaaee — a child in sanctuary. Trusting the flow rather than forcing it.

A Question to Sit With

When is it a relief to let a grown-up handle something instead of figuring it out alone?
