In plain words

My Teacher has become my protector and guardian.

Pouring out mercy, the One reached out His hand and kept the child safe — well again, whole and sound.

A protecting hand can make you feel brand-new again.
The deeper layer

The shabad opens on its pause-line. Har govid navaa niro-aa — the child (Hargobind) is “brand-new and healthy,” recovered from illness; rendered here simply as “well again, whole and sound.” Haath day raakhi-aa, the protecting hand, is this cluster’s recurring image.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people who feel like guardians to you?
