Let the wise teachings be your fresh milk, rich and full of goodness. Let your own wide, deep mind be the big churn.
Now do the patient work of churning, turning the teachings over and over inside you, and something precious rises to the top, like golden butter, and none of your effort is wasted.
Kabir uses the everyday miracle of butter-making: nigam (the scriptures) as milk, the samund (ocean of the mind) as the churning-vat, and steady inner practice as the churning that yields butter. The point: don't just store the teaching, work it through you until it transforms into something nourishing. The same allegory opens Raag Soohee (Raag Tilang Shabad 21).
What is something you have learned that only became truly yours after you practiced it again and again?
