Sitting together, friends sing the praises of the One.
They lift up the Name again and again, so grateful for it.
And the ones who hear the Naam and accept it — who let it become part of them — I love them dearly.
Those who turn toward the Guru bring others to meet the One.
Day and night, I give my whole self to the Guru, who helps me see.
Praise is something you sing together, and the deepest praise is to hear the Naam and live by it.
A warm Pauri of Guru Ram Das about friends sitting together to sing. Two key words of Japji meet in one line: jinee sun mani-aa har naa-o — those who listen (Suniai, deep receptive listening) and accept (Mannai, inner alignment — living from the truth, not merely agreeing with it). The Pauri does not teach these as steps to master but simply loves the people who embody them (tinaa ha-o vaaree-aa). The picture is communal and gentle: praise is something you do together, and the deepest form of it is to hear something so fully that it reshapes how you live.
What is something you heard so deeply that it changed how you act?
