Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The truly good and loving people are simply those whose hearts have grown dear to the One.
They are the wise ones — the ones who keep the One in mind.
They feed on the sweetest food there is: the treasure of the Name.
They bow so low in humility that they touch the dust of good people's feet to their foreheads.
And in doing that, they become clean and clear — as if they had bathed at the most sacred river in the world, which turns out to be right inside them.
The twenty-sixth Pauree redefines pilgrimage. Instead of traveling to a teerath (sacred bathing-place), har tirath naa-i-aa — the true bathing happens in the Lord, within. Two humility images anchor it: amrit naam... bhojan (the Name as nourishing food) and sant janaa kee Dhoor (touching the dust of good people's feet — a picture of lowering the ego, not literal dust). Goodness is measured not by status or ritual but by whom you hold dear and how little you need to stand above others.
People sometimes travel far to special places to feel peaceful. Where is a place inside yourself, or a person near you, that already makes you feel calm and good?
