In plain words

The One invites us into loving service, and then, with the same hand, offers forgiveness.

The One is the mother and the father of everyone, every single person, and cares for us all.

Those who keep the Name in their hearts come to rest in the true home deep inside themselves. Their goodness shines quietly through all the ages.

The One is the mother and father of everyone alike — which means every person is your family.
The deeper layer

The One is mother and father to everyone alike.

Sabhnaa kaa maa pi-o aap hai means the One is the mother and father of all. It is one of Gurbani's great lines about equality. The same loving parent belongs to everyone, whatever their family, faith or background. Think of a parent who loves every one of their children the same, the eldest and the youngest.

This gives a child two things at once. It feels close, like a parent's care. And it reaches everyone, so no one is a stranger.

Aapay sayvaa laa-i-an aapay bakhas karay-i: the One calls us to serve, and the One forgives. The reward is nij ghar vaas, living in your own true home inside. It is not a far-off heaven. It is coming home to yourself.

A Question to Sit With

If the same One is the parent of every single person, how might that change the way you see a stranger, or someone very different from you?
