Feed the Inner Life Daily and Aging Loses Its Grip

har amrit naam bhojan nit bhunchahu sarab vaylaa mukh paavhu.
So eat the Ambrosial Name of the Lord as your food; put it into your mouth at all times.
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਠਾ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥੩॥
jaraa maraa taap sabh naathaa gun gobind nit gaavhu. ||3||
The pains of old age and death shall all depart, when you constantly sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||3||

In plain words

Let the sweet Name be your daily food — keep it always in your mouth.

The aches of aging and endings loosen their hold when you keep singing the One's praises.

Feed your inner life daily, and even the hard parts of getting older loosen their grip.
The deeper layer

Feed your inner life every day, the way you feed your body.

Har amrit naam bhojan — let the sweet Name be your food. Bhojan means a meal. Amrit means nectar, the sweetest, most life-giving drink. You would not skip every meal and expect to feel strong. Your inner life needs daily food too.

The verse names jaraa maraa taap, the "fever" of growing old and of dying. It does not pretend these things away. Instead it says they loosen their hold when you keep singing the One's praises.

Think of being nervous before a big test. The test still comes. But if you have a calm song in your head, the worry stops being the boss of you. Pain may still visit, but it no longer rules a heart that is well fed.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you feed your mind or heart with each day?
