Peace Can Be as Close as Your Next Breath

With each and every breath, meditate on the Lord and Master, O my soul, with mind, body and mouth. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Just holding that Name, you grow peaceful.

With every breath in and out, keep the One in your thoughts, my soul — with mind, and body, and voice.

Peace can be as close as your next breath.
The deeper layer

The Pause is the whole practice in miniature: saas saas dhi-aavahu — remember with each breath. Not a special posture or a set hour, but something woven into the most ordinary rhythm there is, your own breathing. Man tan jee-aray mukhee — mind, body, and voice all in it together; the remembering is meant to fill the whole person, not stay locked in the head.

A Question to Sit With

Could you tie one calm, good thought to your breathing when you feel stressed?
