The parents, children and relatives you love
will let your body go when the soul departs.
Even those you love most can't accompany you through the final door — which is why the heart reaches for the One who can.
The verse states, soberly and without morbidity, the truth the raag returns to: even those we love most cannot keep us here or accompany us through the final door. This is not said to diminish family love but to right-size where our ultimate hope rests. The dearest people are for the journey, walked alongside with love — and the one companion who crosses the last threshold with us is the One.
A Question to Sit With
How does knowing love has a limit make you want to treasure your people — and the One — more?
