You Don't Travel to a Distant God

O beautiful Lord, benevolent and merciful Lord, You are so wealthy and generous.

You are ever-present in every presence, within and before me. ||1||

In plain words

Beautiful One, kind and merciful, You are so rich and so generous.

You are here in every place, inside me and right in front of me.

You don't have to find your way to a distant God — the One is already within you and before you, closer than sight.
The deeper layer

This one says: the One is not far away.

Naam Dayv uses words his Muslim neighbors used for God. He calls the One generous and merciful. Alaah is the Arabic name for God. Haajraa hajoor — present right here, face to face.

The One is endlessly generous, and also right here. In the line before, Naam Dayv said he was blind and couldn't find the way. Now he sees the One is all around him and inside him, at every point.

You don't have to travel to a far-off God. Think of hunting everywhere for your glasses, and they are on your head. The One is already within you and before you, closer than your own eyes. Being present, not searching, is how it really is.

A Question to Sit With

What would change if you trusted that what you seek is already 'within and before' you at every moment?
