Your helpers and gifts, your friends and courts, your lands and houses —
when the end comes to take you, what good will they be to you then?
This one asks: what can you take with you at the end?
Valee ni-aamat biraadaraa — helpers, gifts, friends. Then courts, lands and houses. These are what a successful life collects. Then comes the question that puts them all in their place: tab chay kaaray — what good will they be then?
Azraa-eel is named again, the angel who comes at the end of life in Islamic tradition. None of these things go with you through that last door. That doesn't make them worthless. They help us along the way.
Think of a backpack on a school trip. It's useful all day. But when you get home, you set it down. Hold these things lightly. They are for the journey, not for the end.
What are you accumulating that you'd want to hold more lightly, knowing it can't follow you all the way?
