Raag Todee
Commentary

Raag Todee, Shabad 22, Mehl 5 (Guru Arjan)

"Do not let me forget You from my heart, even for an instant."

The Arc

A prayer to the praanpat, the lord of the breath. Come to me, don't let me forget You; the Name is worth "millions of kingdoms"; turn Your loving glance my way (v.0); day-and-night praise that "satisfies the ears," ending in glad self-giving at the One's shelter (v.1).

Key Vocabulary

  • praanpat — lord of the breath; the life within life.
  • nadar — the loving glance of grace; unearned, transforming.
  • "do not let me forget" — the honest fear is of forgetting, not of punishment.

Themes and Cross-Connections

"Don't let me forget" ties directly to the raag's diagnosis of forgetting (B00C1532, 1549) and to philosophy.md's Maya as the Forgetting. Praise-that-fills-rather-than-drains echoes B00C1540's "sorrows run away." Nadar is Gurbani's constant grace-image.

For Raag Todee

Frames devotion as nourishment, not duty: real turning toward the One fills you the way good music does — and the most honest prayer is simply "don't let me forget what matters."
