In plain words

My mind is in love with the One; I've met the true teacher, that noble, big-hearted presence.

And Nanak is just glad all the way through — turning toward the One, every sickness in me has healed.

The long search ends not in exhaustion but in love — and love turns out to be healing.
The deeper layer

This one says the long search ends in love, and love turns out to heal.

Charan kamal sang pareet man laagee — my mind has fallen in love with the lotus feet. The lotus feet are a loving picture for the One's presence. Sur jan milay pi-aaray — I've met the dear, noble one, the Guru. Sur jan means a noble, brave, big-hearted person.

Naanak anad karay — Nanak is full of joy. Har jap jap saglay rog nivaaray — by repeating the One's Name again and again, every sickness is cured. The healing words from earlier in this raag come back here.

The search began in the first verse with turning over everything life offers. It ends not with being worn out, but with love and health. In Todee, those two are the signs that a person has finally come home. It's like the end of a long trip: you walk in the door, someone hugs you, and all the tiredness melts away.

A Question to Sit With

What's the difference between being worn out by searching and being at rest because you found what you were looking for?
