This understanding came to me from the company of the wise, as if it had my name on it all along.
And that's how, Nanak says, I finally saw the One with my own eyes.
The wisdom that ends the search is received "from the Holy Saints" — again, transformation comes through company, not solitary striving. "According to the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon my forehead" is the tradition's way of holding grace and humility together: even your readiness to receive was itself a gift. And the climax is seeing — "Nanak has seen the Lord with his eyes." Not concluded, not believed, but seen: the shift from secondhand belief to firsthand vision that the whole raag has been reaching toward.
