In plain words

By the kindness of the wise, the longing was answered — the One, that treasure of all goodness, finally met me.

And peace, poise, and quiet delight welled up inside — as if, Nanak says, a million suns had come on at once.

After the long thirst, the meeting isn't a small candle — it's a sunrise of a million suns.
The deeper layer

The thirst of the first verse is quenched, and the image for it is spectacular: "millions of suns illuminate me." After all the aching, the meeting isn't a small candle but a flood of light — an experience of overwhelming clarity and joy. Note again the how: "by the Grace of the Saints" — the meeting comes through humble company, not solitary force. The whole shabad moves from thirst to a sunburst, and it's the same movement the entire raag traces: longing, turned toward the One, ends in light.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever waited a long time for something wonderful? What was the moment it finally came like?
