Listen, the One I love — I am soaked through with Your love, the way the ground is soaked after rain.
You fill my whole mind and body; I could not forget You for even a moment.
How could I ever forget You? I would give anything for You. Singing Your praises, I live.
No one is mine. Whom do I belong to? Without You, I cannot go on.
I hold on to Your feet for support. Resting there, my body has become pure.
Nanak says: I have found deep insight and peace, and the Guru's Word comforts my mind.
Har ras bhinne is being drenched in the essence of the One, the way earth is soaked by rain — an image that quietly sets up the monsoon months to come. Balihaaree ("I am a sacrifice to You") is glad self-giving. Naa ko-ee mayraa — no one is mine — is the loneliness of a heart that can rest only in the One, and the next line holds on to the Lord's feet for support. Darisat deeragh is far-seeing, profound insight, the settled calm of a mind steadied by the Guru's Word.
Where do you feel most like you belong?
