Raag Tukhaari

The Baarah Maaha ("The Twelve Months") is Guru Nanak's calendar of the heart. It takes the oldest form of Indian love-poetry — a woman singing her longing for an absent beloved through the turning seasons — and makes of it a map of the soul's yearning for the One. Seventeen stanzas carry it: four of prologue, twelve months, and a closing verse of union.
